‘YeHaa for Bob at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort

{‘YeHaa Bob is back!!!}

I’ll admit it. I am a music geek, born and raised. My parents met at band camp for crying out loud, it was inevitable. Grew up playing the trumpet from a very young age, marching in the band, and later singing my heart out in the choir, I am drawn to music.

In college, I loved going to a dueling piano bar. {I’m not sure we have stepped foot into a 21+ establishment since having kids, or maybe I would still enjoy going to one.}

July 4th was our wedding anniversary, and 11 years ago, we partied well into the night with dueling pianos as our wedding reception entertainment. I thought taking in a show of ‘YeHaa Bob, pianoman, entertainer extraordinaire, would be a lovely sentimental thing to do following our amazing adult only dinner at Spice Road Table with the perfect view of the IllumiNations fireworks at Epcot, and Hubs agreed to appease me. {Consider his sacrifice an anniversary gift.}

Being the 4th of July, we did check with the concierge to make sure he was still playing even though it was a holiday, since getting from resort to resort on Disney property is not the easiest of tasks. I was delighted that the show would go on!

 “Not at all what I was expecting, I really enjoyed that.” Direct quote from Hubs as we exited Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort to head back to our resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Don’t be fooled by his name. “‘YeHaa Bob” is not country twang. (Have we talked about the fact that Hubs is as far from a country music fan as a human can be?)

‘YeHaa Bob is a solo act. He  plays  jams on an upright piano {seriously, I am not certain how that thing doesn’t fall apart at the seams} singing fun songs that you would love to sing along with. I would categorize his improve renditions of song choices in the, mostly family friendly, category. His comedy in song, walks the line just enough that it is adult fun, that would be appropriate even if your mini side kicks were along with you. (He does many shows for children outside of Disney, so I would imagine he is very good at reading the room.)

Bob has a loyal following, and it was clear that people had driven in just to see him perform, and sing along. There was a group of a dozen college age girls from Lake Mary who were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Brilliant! With no cover charge, and a fun drinks to be had by everyone, this would certainly be a favorite of mine if we lived near Orlando.

The River Roost Lounge Bar area is not very large, but there is a lounge area with low sitting comfy chairs that is attached, total capacity of 148. Unless you get there for the first show, and plan to stick around, I wouldn’t plan on getting a front row seat (see the loyal locals part above). We sat towards the back of the bar area, and due to the intimate nature of the venue, we didn’t feel removed from the show at all.

‘YeHaa Bob has been performing 4 nights a week since 1997, Wednesday through Saturday, most weeks (check out his schedule) at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside. He performs from 8:30 – midnight with two intermission/fan meet and greet break in-between his three sets.

If you find a love for music and fun in your heart, you should make plans to see ‘YeHaa Bob for yourself. You don’t need to get dressed fancy, but there’s a good chance he’ll ask you how his hair looks.
